Texas, Notre Dame & Ohio State Helmets
The Texas and Ohio State helmet sculptures were built to celebrate the 89th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic between both competing teams. Notre Dame was built for the National Championship game. These sculptures stand 6’ tall and use over 110 Goodyear tires each. The inner structures were 5 axis CNC’ed out foam, then steel armature were welded inside. Once secured, the foam was fiberglassed to add rigidity and give support to the thousands of staples and screws which support the tires. The tires were all hand painted and clear coated. These sculptures were commissioned by Goodyear Tires and will be displayed at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX for the Cotton Bowl, then the winner (Ohio State) will be transported to Georgia and compete for the national championship alongside Notre Dame. Goodyear will donate the sculptures to the Universities once the games are completed.
