Tennis Trophy
This trophy was meticulously handcrafted as a tribute to legendary University of Georgia tennis coach Manuel Diaz. The racquet was sculpted from rich Walnut, carefully milled and arranged within a custom mold. A gallon of crystal-clear epoxy resin was then poured and cured to encase the form. Once solidified, the racquet was precision-cut and painstakingly hand-sanded—from coarse 60 grit through ultra-fine 5000 grit—before being polished and sealed with a high-gloss clear coat to achieve a glossy finish.
The accompanying tennis ball was power-carved from Buckeye Burl, its organic figure enhanced with epoxy resin positioned to suggest traditional tennis lacing. It serves as a subtle nod to the sport’s craftsmanship and spirit. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates excellence, tradition, and the enduring legacy of a true coaching icon.
