Old Growth Redwood Skull

This life-sized human skull is hand-carved from Old Growth Redwood burl, estimated to be over 1,000 years old. The wood originates from the same burl used to create Old Red—one of my very first and most meaningful T-Rex skull sculptures.

This piece was created as part of my challenge series “5 Minutes vs. 5 Hours vs. 5 Days” and was completed within the 5-hour time limit. Because of this accelerated process, the sculpture bears roughly sanded areas and subtle imperfections—marks that tell the story of its creation and capture the raw, unpolished energy of the challenge.
