Synthetic Sword
While exploring a remote Hawaiian beach with my family, we found the shoreline completely covered in washed-up plastic. Instead of just walking past it, the vibrant, weathered colors gave me a crazy idea: what if I harvested this ocean garbage and transformed it into a piece of art? After hauling piles of trash back to the shop and casting it with three gallons of crystal-clear epoxy, I set out to carve a swordfish. This sculpture exceeded my expectations. It measures 25” long x 22” tall and 7” wide. It has a custom wave-like pedestal made from solid Poplar.
